Explore The Hewitt School's distinctive history, one that spans a century of private education and female empowerment.

After adjusting to the new reality in which we currently find ourselves, we decided that we wanted our senior project to examine both past and current historical events. We hope to leave our mark and create a resource for future students, parents, faculty, and staff to easily explore the fascinating hundred-year history of The Hewitt School. We purposefully chose to create a technology-based platform so that it can easily be accessed. We enjoyed delving into our shared past, and we want to share the many ways in which our school has changed, for it reflects the ways in which the world has evolved. We firmly believe that understanding our history is an important step in truly knowing ourselves and advancing as a community. We leave you with this quote from James Baldwin's Go Tell It on the Mountain (1953):

"Go back to where you started, or as far back as you can, examine all of it, travel your road again and tell the truth about it. Sing or shout or testify or keep it to yourself: but know whence you came."

– Viviana Barberi and Valerie Blinder
